Remarks to the EIA report on the disclosure of Horizons 1500 and 1580 M of mine "Jubilee"

OVD / 13.05.2020

Participants of “Stop Poisoning Kryvyi Rih” analyzed the report on environmental impact assessment on the disclosure of Horizons 1500 and 1580 M Mine “Juvilejna” of “Sukha Balka”. Public hearings on this occasion were held today, Feb. 19.

The discussions was not crowded. The company constantly changed the meeting dates, as a consequence-the hearings were held almost in the empty hall.

Representatives of our coalition provided numerous observations. The document, which was considered more like a report on geological surveys, and its own environmental impact assessment does not contain.

Thus, it has not been investigated the consequences for the health of people, flora and fauna, protected areas from the planned activities. Information about the influence of new developments at Saksagan, Kresivske Reservoir is not indicated. The company, despite our requirements, does not provided the map of expansion of shifts zone and funnels. Without this information it is difficult to assess how well planned activities will affect residential buildings.
According to representatives of the enterprise “Sucha Balka”, the zone shifts as a result of their activity is 250 meters from the nearest residential building. But its area will increase almost twice, as stated in the report!

With the deepening of work fluctuations due to underground explosions on the surface will be felt less. But again the results of seismic research are not given in the report. Representatives of the “dry beam” reported their obligations to the Gleyed Agricultural Council to repair the house in case of their damage due to the extraction of useful mines. But the question resettlement the enterprise does not consider.
Special attention was paid to the system of treatment of mine waters. They are from the “Jubilee” mine are transported into the slag repository “Half-UNGPC”. Communications worn, in the case of breakthrough highly mineralized water usually destroy all living and polluting soils. But the company still has no other options, though it says that they do not abandon their search.

The coalition coordinator Olena Shakranova concluded that the report did not meet the requirements of the law “on Environmental impact assessment”. Because of the lack of necessary studies predict what awaits residents of the closest neighborhoods after the recess of the mine is impossible. Such an approach is irresponsible. Therefore, the DTKR considers it premature to provide a positive conclusion to the EIA regarding this activity.
Now we are waiting for written answers to the questions that were delivered to the enterprise, and you will be sure to notify them. All observations are sent to the Ministry of Energy and Environmental protection. It is his representatives give conclusions from ATS.
