And should this information be contained on the websites of the companies? Ukraine in 1998 signed the Aarhus Convention, in 2001, it became valid for our country. According to this document, environmental information must be open and accessible.
The components of eco-information, according to the document, are not only the state of the environment, but also plans and programs that can affect the environment. The law of Ukraine “on environmental protection”, under information about its state, defines the information, including in electronic form, about sources, factors, materials and substances that affect or affect the state of the environment and human health. And enterprises are obliged to provide free access to such information.

On the importance of compliance with the requirements of the law and granting free access to environmental information, we have repeatedly emphasized on public hearings conducted by polluters, at meetings of Deputy commissions, working groups, including within the framework of the memorandum with “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih”. And each time they received the assurances of the enterprises to heed the public.

Now we see that the promises have fulfilled only “Metinvest”. On the official websites of the “Pivnychyi GZK”, the “CentrGZK” and the “Inguletskyi GZK” placed permits for emissions of pollutant substances into the atmospheric air with the applications. But from permits for special water use there are only cover sheets. But the beginning is still laid.

Other large enterprises on their sites published only title letters. Why? Because it is not in the law, established in the nineties, clearly spelled out the norm for the placement of environmental permits documents in full on the sites of enterprises. Were sites at that time – they prefer not to mention this.
